Mission: The Brookings Interagency Council strives to strengthen families and individuals with disabilities in the Brookings Community by creating opportunities, and access to programs to meet their individual, family, social, recreational, and therapeutic needs.

Camp Adventure
Brookings Area Camp Adventure provides a barrier-free day camp experience for children with disabilities. Camp Adventure runs for two weeks during the summer and is divided into two sessions: one week for 6–13-year-olds and one week for 14–21-year-olds. Camp is based in Brookings and runs daily, Monday - Thursday, from 9 am to 4 pm. During the camp day, children participate in arts and craft activities, a community service activity, water activities, and daily field trips to area attractions. The main objective of Camp Adventure is to allow children with disabilities to have fun!
S.T.A.R.S
STARS is a recreational, therapeutic horsemanship program for persons with disabilities in Brookings and the surrounding communities. The volunteer-driven program is devised to teach basic horsemanship skills and to physically and emotionally benefit the riders. Rider goals include core strength, improving motor skills, bonding with horses, and social opportunities. Riders participate tuesday and thursday nights through the summer months in 4 week sessions. STARS serves riders with disabilities from age 7 up to seniors.
