Brookings Adult Education & Literacy
About Brookings Adult Ed Program
The Brookings AEL Program's mission is to expand the educational opportunities for adult learners by assisting them in acquiring basic educational literacy. This increased educational attainment will assist the learner in becoming a more employable citizen.

Adult Education & Literacy
The Brookings AEL program provides educational opportunities for individuals age 18 or older who are no longer enrolled in public school by establishing programs enabling them to 1) acquire basic educational skills necessary to function in society, including but not limited to, English language acquisition and basic computer skills; 2) secure training enabling them to become more employable, productive, and responsible citizens; and 3) continue their education to the level of completion of secondary school.
We work with students looking to earn their GED, those who want to continue their education at higher education facilities, and some who are dreaming of achieving citizenship.
We strive to incorporate instructional practices and curricula that incorporate math, reading, writing, and communication skills at the level of the individual. The activities provide learning in a real-life context to ensure that a student has the skills and confidence needed to compete in the workplace.
