Senior Box Distribution
Are you, or do you know of, an adult aged 60 years or older living on a fixed income, having to make impossible choices between buying groceries of medications, or other bills each month?
The Senior Box Program, a USDA Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) administered by Feeding South Dakota, distributes free food to limited income adults 60 years and older.
To sign up call 605-692-4979 and ask for Duncan. Distributions are always on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the United Way office from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
Each month, eligible adults that have applied & been accepted into the program will receive a box filled with a 2-pound block of fresh cheese and 25 pounds of non-perishable food containing at a minimum:
- shelf-stable milk
- canned vegetables
- canned meat or entree such as beef stew or chili
- juice
- cereal
- pasta or rice
- canned fruits
