Education Collaborations
Brookings Behavioral Health and Wellness (BBHW) seeks funding to expand youth and family services, focusing on the crisis intervention continuum: prevention, early intervention, treatment, and post-crisis support. We continue to grow services in Brookings County schools, the Boys and Girls Club, and the GAP program, adapting offerings to meet increasing needs, such as new group programs and additional individual services.
Demand for youth mental health services, crisis care, family supports, and school staff assistance continues to rise. Mobile crisis response needs have grown significantly, but these services, along with post-crisis support, are not reimbursable. BBHW requests United Way's support to ensure these vital services remain accessible.
For five years, BBHW’s collaborative School-Linked Services program has enhanced engagement among school staff, teachers, and families, increasing youth participation in services. School-based programs reduce barriers like transportation and stigma, fostering access and addressing the full continuum of care to support timely, effective mental health responses. BBHW remains committed to assessing and adapting services to meet the evolving needs of our community.
