About Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership
Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership is a community based non-profit organization which serves primarily low-income families and senior citizens in a 14-county area of East Central South Dakota. We administer a variety of programs supported through grants, donations, and other community resources to assist participants and their communities. Our vision is to have sustainable communities where children, families, and individuals reach their full potential.
Sixties Plus Dining Program
The program offers positive social contact and nutritious foods to those who might otherwise be socially isolated and/or malnourished. Frozen blizzard meals are provided for use during winter storms or other unplanned service interruptions. We have also developed a 7 pack Frozen meal option. Participants can select the meals that they want from a menu of 10 options and have them delivered to their homes or pick them up at our congregate center to help keep costs low. This method has been effective in providing meal services to seniors in Brookings as well as outside of our daily home delivered routes. The "STAR CARD" program is available to seniors who enjoy a flexible dining experience by utilizing the participating cafés. Participants are able to order off a Pre-Approved STAR CARD menu and enjoy their meals whenever it is convenient for them. All meals meet state nutritional guidelines.
Headstart Pre-Birth to Five Supplies Program
Head Start Pre-Birth to Five provides comprehensive child development services to low-income children and their families. Children ages 3-5 in the Brookings community attend the Head Start center in either the morning or afternoon session. The children and their families receive a wide array of services including education, nutrition, mental health/health, and family services. The Early Head Start (EHS) program serves infants and toddlers under the age of three and their families and also pregnant women. EHS provides comprehensive child development and family support services to participants.
