Public Transit

We are a private non-profit public transportation company that operates as a sub-grantee under the SD Department of Transportation; a Federal Transit Authority program that provides accessible transportation to the Brookings County area. This services is not limited to who may use it; it is available for everyone.
BATA operates Monday-Friday from 5:00am to 6:00pm. BATA only shuts down a few days over the course of the year to allow our employees to enjoy holidays with their families, yet will remain open on a very limited basis for those requiring dialysis transportation. These days would only be in effect if the holiday would fall on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday. BATA also runs the Rabbit Ride program (formerly SafeRide) in collaboration with the SDSU Wellness program. This program runs Friday and Saturday from 9:00pm to 3:00am. This program allows individuals to get a safe-ride home from late night activities, eliminating the risk of driving home under the influence. Both BATA's regular transportation program and RabbitRide have grown substantially over the past years, and we are looking forward to the challenge of even furthering our passenger numbers.
